Things to do while attending Vanquinox

  • Day hike to Trail Creek Lakes in the Sawtooth Mountains https://www.alltrails.com/trail/us/idaho/trail-creek-lakes-from-grandjean-trailhead
  • Mountain bike, e-bike, motorbike the Wapiti Creek Trail up to a ridgeline with amazing views, optional loop taking Blue Jay Trail and the main road back
  • Fly fish for native rainbow trout in the South Fork of the Payette just feet from the main camp area
  • Go to the Salmon River about an hour away and try your luck fishing for Steelhead (the season opens early this year on 9/1, not the usual 10/15)
  • Day trip to Bull Trout lake, or go to Stanley and beyond to Redfish Lake for some beach time
  • Book a horseback ride into the Sawtooth wilderness with the outfitters at Sawtooth Lodge right on site, the stables a stone throw from the camp site
  • Take a swim in the on-site geothermal heated swimming pool
  • Explore the area and search for late season huckleberries
  • Take a 1/4 mile or so walk to Sacajawea natural undeveloped hot springs and soak in the amazing gem clear waters with no sulphur smell
  • Plan a backpacking excursion into the Sawtooth mountains immediately before or after Vanquinox
  • At the end of the day treat yourself to one of the best huckleberry milkshakes you’ll find in Sawtooth Lodge
